Light-up awards

Design and fabrication

I was commissioned to design and fabricate awards for Ziff Davis, owner of PC Mag, Mashable and handful of other websites related to technology, gaming and shopping. The awards are presented to exhibitors at major conferences such as CES in Las Vegas and MWC in Barcelona. Now in its third design iteration, the award features seven layers of laser-engraved acrylic, four strips of LEDs in red and white, a hollow birch plywood base in a natural finish with an on/off switch on the back and a magnetic closure on the bottom that houses all of the electronics. The lights run on 4x AA batteries with an approximate life of about eight hours. The design also includes a custom cut and engraved cardboard box with a laser-cut PE foam insert for safe and attractive shipping and handling.
